Mr. Phuong was born in 1976 in a rural part of Hanoi. At the age of 15 he moved to Hanoi to pursue his studies. He became a lecturer at Hanoi National University and he also worked for several international organisations in Vietnam in fields such as agro-forestry, rural development, hunger elimination and poverty reduction, children and education, public health, and environment.
Mr. Phuong founded Volunteers for Peace Vietnam (VPV) in 2005 with the mission to promote international exchange that has engaged thousands of local and international volunteers. Following his passion to support young people in the country, in 2009 Mr. Phuong founded the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS), which aims to promote education for sustainable development in Vietnam.
Mrs. Que graduated from the Vietnam National University with a Master’s Degree in TESOL. For several years Que worked as a volunteer with a number of international organisations, such as Volunteer Service Overseas, Action Aid International and UK Aid (the British Government’s Department for International Development), etc. Joining CSDS in early 2011, her aim was to support the local Hanoi community through international volunteer initiatives. She believes the work currently being undertaken in Hanoi is practical and reflects the real need of the community.
Mr. Huan has over 5 years of work experience in youth empowerment and capacity building. His passion is to work with young people for their personal growth together with social change.
Khai graduated from Hanoi University of Industry. Khai has been working in CSDS since 2011. He is a sociable and good humoured person. He enjoys participating in social activities and movements to give his hand to disadvantaged people and communities. At present, he is working as a project coordinator at New Horizons Project in Quoc Oai, a district of Hanoi’s outskirts.
Hưng graduated from Hanoi University in 2013 where he majored in Tourism and Hospitality Management. He had previously worked in various fields. Hưng joined the CSDS team in 2015 and says: “It must be fate that brought me here. Now I am enjoying every single day with CSDS”. Currently, his field of responsibility is coordinating International Volunteers working on the Teaching Project. Hưng is a 25 years old, born and raised in Hanoi, with the great passion for food and traveling.
Dao Thu Hien – Project Coordinator
Mrs. Hien graduated from the Vietnam National University with a BSc. in Environmental Science in 2008 and has over 8 years of experience working with youth. Before joining CSDS Mrs. Hien spent almost one year working as a project assistant at ‘People and Nature Reconciliation’, one year as a youth development program officer at ‘Vietnam Green Generation’, over one year as an education officer at ‘Cat Ba Langur Conservation Project’ and over two years as an education program officer at ‘ Live and Learn for Environment and Community’. Her education as well as work experience provided her with broad knowledge of sustainable development, project management, work with young people, and training and workshops for young volunteers, which makes her a great asset to our organization.
Don Thi Phuong Lam – Operation Manager
Mr. Phuong graduated from Hanoi University for Teachers of Foreign Languages in 1994 with a BA degree in Russian Language Teaching, in 1998 with a BA in English Language Teaching, and obtained a MA in English Language Teaching in Vietnam National University in 2005. With over 20 years of work experience in various fields, such as language teaching, translation, office assistance, consultancy, administration coordination, finance management, Mr. Phuong is now a valuable asset to our team.
